About the designer: Miho Nikaido

The great granddaughter of a local Kimono maker in the north of Japan, Miho Nikaido is a contemporary dressmaker blending modernism and tradition to create elegant, sometimes provocative, fun fashion for women.

Before starting her clothing line, Nikaido worked extensively as an actress, notably playing the lead in Ryu Murakami's film "Tokyo Decadence." Shortly thereafter, she was featured in Hal Hartley's film "Flirt." Based in New York since 1994, Nikaido has worked in several American movies, most recently starring in Richard Sylvarnes' film "The Cloud of Unknowing," which screened at the inaugural Tribeca Film Festival. Most recently she has starred in Jem Cohen's film‚ Chain.

Besides designing for her own line miho-miho, Nikaido is designing eveningwear accessories for the private label AURO International as chief designer, and her design is distributed for numerous department stores such as Bloomingdales, Lord and Taylor, and Nordstrom.

Currently Miho Nikaido is a design consultant for Auro International. She has produced a wide variety of items from eveningwear accessories to casual dresses. Her designs executed with materials like custom embroideries and hand-painted silks gave the collection sophistication through exquisite detailing. Nikaido's designs are widely distributed in numerous department stores including Bloomingdales, Lord and Taylor and Nordstrom. She is also involved in designing exclusive items for stores such as Bebe, Guess and Anne Taylor.
